Tall, Super Tall & Mega Tall Buildings
Whilst there is no accepted definition of tall buildings, a general definition is above 50 Stories, super tall buildings are defined as buildings that are over 300M and mega tall buildings are those over 600M tall.

Kerran, Joe and Brad have been responsible for the security solutions of one Mega tall building, two super tall Buildings and numerous tall buildings.  This provides the Alliance team with unique experiences in the development of these unusual types of facilities.

Some of these projects are listed below:
Burj Khalifa Tower - Dubai*
The Burj Khalifa Tower, currently the tallest building in the world today is a mega tall building located in
Dubai.

Kerran and Joe have had significant involvement in the security solution for this world famous project.  CCD Australia was awarded the security design of the project against some of the largest security consultants in the world.

The commission involved working as direct consultants to the project developer EMAAR, as well as sub consultants to Skidmore Owings and Merrill from Chicago.  Joe was involved in the design of the security solution concept stage through all design phases to the tendering and construction of the project.  This included attending design meetings in Chicago.

The security solution is underpinned by a thorough risk/threat assessment that had to consider both national and international threats from a wide range of possible perpetrator’s of varying skill sets.  The solution includes a clear zone around the facility and anyone entering the tower is subject to screening.  This includes all public who travel to the public viewing platform from the adjacent Dubai Mall.

The final security technology solution is one of the largest and more complex projects ever undertaken in Dubai, and the complete technology solution extends throughout the complex in a manner that enables all tenants to manage their own security yet can have security elements of the security monitored by the facility global security solution, if they chose to do so.

The global solution manages the security within the boundaries of the secured zone throughout the complete complex. The solution is administered and managed by a highly trained guard force.

Central Park*
Kerran and Joe undertook the complete security design of the Central Park, a tall building (above 50 Stories) which is Perth’s tallest building.  Kerran and his team at CCD Australia were commissioned to undertake the electrical, security and communications services for this significant project.
The commission for the security element included:
· A thorough threat/risk assessment which postulated the security scenario in Perth at the year 2010;
· Involvement with the design Architects to ensure all access into and out of the facility could be
   managed;
· A internal mail system that precluded any courier companies from entering the tower;
· A comprehensive security management system integrated with a comprehensive CCTV solution;
· Provision to have a separate security solution in each individual tenancy, with security managed from
   that tenancy and/or defaulting to the building central security control, if required and/or after hours;
· Interfacing of the security solution to assist in emergency management authorities and law enforcement
   in Perth; and
· Installation of all security technology cabling via the access floor solution installed as part of the
   electrical design for the project.

When the project was opened in 1992, the facility was considered as the most secure commercial office complex in Australia.  It is still considered as having no peer.

Al Maas Tower Dubai
Al Mass tower is considered a super tall building.  Kerran and Brad carried out the security planning and design of the 78 story facility which incorporates the new Diamond Bourse recently constructed in Dubai, This is the first Diamond Bourse in the Middle East and only one of 29 across the globe.  The facility also includes a largest fully automated safety deposit vault in the Middle East.
The project included:
· Project Threat/risk assessment;
· Writing of the security and communications brief;
· Negotiations with the project insurers from London as to the validity of the security solution for the
   complete project;
· Aspects of the physical design, including the planning of the defence in depth security overlay for
   project, including for the diamond sales processing and storage;
· Vault and vault door design;
· Design of the physical security of all of the tower floors reserved for Diamond Vendors;
· Security guidelines for the architect and services engineers for the project;
· Physical design of vaults and sales and storage areas, including definition of the vault planning and wall
   construction, specification of the vault doors; and
· The design, documentation, and procurement and overseeing of the installation of all physical and
   electronic security.

This project is considered one of the most secure office facilities in the Middle East and until the completion of the Burj Khalifa Tower, was the tallest building in Dubai.
